Yearly Archives: 2008

With this ring…

I’m far more disappointed and distracted by this engagement then anyone should be. I think that this Radio Exile blogger expressed his reaction better and with more humor than I ever could hope to.

Important Songs of 2008: Every Last One of Them

Here in the last week of 2008 I realize I have completed at least one goal this year. The idea was to commit one song each Sunday to a list of “Important Songs of 2008″ kept running on this blog. At previous landmarks (1st Quarter, 2nd Quarter, and 3rd Quarter) I posted the [...]

Christmas Vacation, Day 8.

Now that all that holiday stuff is over I can do wonderful things, like have breakfast with my dear friend Ally at the Old Milwaukee.
I’ll proceed to spend the remaining portion of the evening watching Frost/Nixon.

Christmas Vacation, Day 7.

Doubt was essentially what I expected it to be. It reminded me how interesting it is to see films that are based on plays. Proof was the same way. The dialogue leaves a lot to the imagination and there are only three or four settings. I like it. It keeps [...]

Christmas Vacation, Day 6 (Christmas Day).

Happy Christmas everyone!
I woke up to a stocking full of candy and other delightful goodies and gifts. I’ve eaten a ton of that candy and am beginning to wonder if my itchy, puffy eyes come from sugar.

Christmas Vacation, Day 5 (Christmas Eve).

Christmas Vacation, Day 4.

One full day of boredom, a synopsis:
* Anyone waiting for UPS or FedEx to arrive may be disappointed like me.
* I’m always confused by stories like this. It’s pretty remarkable that this is possible.
* Two films to boring/bad/wacky to sit through today The Smokers and Romance & Cigarettes.
* Oh Nylon Magazine, why on earth [...]

Christmas Vacation, Day 3.

A wonderful album for walking in the snow: BenoĆ®t Pioulard “Temper”

Christmas Vacation, Day 2.

I’m staying home again today. No work until the 29th. Christmas shopping is all done, only waiting for two more packages to arrive. On Friday evening it took 35 minutes to get from my mall parking space to a road outside of the parking lot, Fred Meyer was a similar experience yesterday. [...]

The icy steps of death…

I dare you. I’ll just mention that I’m real glad there’s another entrance to the apartment. Since, you know, a snow shovel is out of the question.
