“It’ll be the key to my heart.”

I had the sort of morning that makes you happy to be alive. Wonderful conversation with the one I love over a fabulous (and inexpensive) breakfast in a small town and shopping at a tiny store.
There’s something wonderful about knowing that the place you’re enjoying is found only one place on earth. It’s something we’ve [...]

Write a melody, hold a harmony.

I’m thinking seriously about performing at an open mic this upcoming Wednesday. I’m already nervous.
Chris and I tried to have a nice quiet evening reading in the park but were interrupted by a giant computer aided jazzy-funky band. We tried to save the evening with a giant Hawaiian shaved ice. No luck.
This week my boss [...]

Fall.

Today has been a lovely, damp, fall day… in July.

Let’s face it.

Tonight’s show was really fun. Hell’s Kitchen is still one of my very favorite places to play. There were tons of people there but there were tons missing too. I got the opportunity to see a few people I see at work everyday, a few I never see, and a many that I don’t see [...]

Casey Dienel: Wind-Up Canary
Joni Mitchell: Blue
M. [...]

Unexpected

Earlier this afternoon I recieved a short and unexpected voicemail from a very dear friend of mine.
It brightened an otherwise dull day.

Where have you been?

Working on Saturday’s is going to take some getting used to. I had such a great Saturday routine going. Sunday’s and Monday’s will have to do from now on.
I miss the pretzel’s already. Good thing Courtney told me there’s a pub in town with German pretzels.
So, I haven’t written in four days and not much [...]

All-Star Game

While the boys watch the all star game, I’m left to blog posts and feverishly weighing the pros and cons of ordering Stila’s tinted moisturizer from the Stila web site vs. Sephora. Who’ll ship faster. Who’s got better samples. Decisions.
I’ve got quite a few hours of paid time off at work so it looks like [...]

So long, Dick…so long, Jane.

Christopher just informed me that Jane Magazine is over. It came quickly without warning and if this is true at least they went out with what was my favorite issue (the Zooey issue). Even though it pissed me off after switching editors and was a bit too much like a “how to be a hipster” [...]

Who’s gonna pick up the pieces then?

Because of my new days off at work this was the last Saturday that Chris and I will be able to spend together fully. It was also the last Saturday farmer’s market I’ll have the opportunity to attend and the Hess Bakery ran clean out of pretzels and Spooner Farms ran right out of blackberries [...]
